Philadelphia, PA – On Saturday November 23rd, 2019 at 3:24pm, KYW 1060 Radio station will broadcast a report by Renaissance Academy (RA) Sophomore, Cooper Day. This opportunity for Cooper was made possible through a program called “Newstudies”, sponsored by Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication.

Knowing his interest in media and reporting, RA College & Academic Counselor, Tracey Behrens O’Brien directed Cooper to the program and suggested he apply. After acceptance, the young journalist attended classes at KYW studios (Philadelphia) on Saturday mornings from October 12th through November 9th, 2019. He learned about news writing, reporting, ethics and interviewing skills from station managers, editors, reporters, anchors, and guest speakers. Cooper then researched and created his own, original news story about the newly-created therapy dog program at Renaissance Academy. His completed project was then recorded on Saturday, November 16th.

Those who miss the initial broadcast of Cooper’s report can listen to a recording of his news story which will be available on the KYW Newstudies Student Reports webpage.

Cooper said that he found great value in this program and would recommend it to others seeking future in any type of reporting or broadcasting. He is hoping to pursue a career is sports journalism.
