Renaissance Academy Announces New Members on the Board of Trustees

Phoenixville, PA— Renaissance Academy Charter School (RA) is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to its Board of Trustees, as well as list the officers and board members.

Joining the RA Board of Trustees are William Suriano, Kimberly Henken, Gregory Queen, and Yvan W. Francois. (Pictured clockwise from the top left of featured photo)

Dr. William W. (Bill) Suriano resides with his wife at the Kimberton Glen Community in Phoenixville. Bill brings to the Board a range of professional experiences as a teacher and school leader from the public schools (K-12) and the university level in New Jersey.

Bill is a retired educator who holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in teacher education and school administration and a Doctorate in Education from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. In his long career of service in the public schools, he has served in numerous administrative positions including the Superintendency at the Kindergarten through High School level.

Additionally serving on the Board of Trustees on its Curriculum and Legislative Committees, Bill respectfully accepts his stewardship and enthusiastically looks forward to serving the students, staff, and community of the Renaissance Academy Charter School.

Kimberly (Kim) Henken resides in West Norriton Township (Norristown Area School District) with her husband, Mike, and her two children. Her two children, Dylan and Austin, currently attend Renaissance Academy.

One of Kim’s special interests is advocating for children with diverse educational needs, including her son Dylan. Kim is a Registered Nurse and works in a leadership position in the Quality Improvement department of a local healthcare system. Prior to transitioning into her leadership role in Healthcare, Kim enjoyed working as an Emergency Room nurse for over ten years. Kim has earned both a Master’s Degree in Nursing and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration.Kim has volunteered on RA Legislative Awareness committee since August 2019, and will be joining the Curriculum committee in January 2020.

Gregory (Greg) Queen was born and raised in the Philadelphia Area, attended La Salle College High School and graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He lives Sanatoga (Pottsgrove School District) with his wife and two children, one currently enrolled at Renaissance Academy.

He is currently a VP of Sales at Sales BQ ®, where he analyzes, builds, trains, and manages sales teams. Previously, Greg has over 15 years of sales and management experience in various industries. He has been mentoring and teaching his entire career, having managed teams of people ranging from 2-400. Greg brings a broad knowledge of Sales, Management, Business, Marketing and Education to the Board of Trustees.

Yvan-W. François is currently a Senior Director for Global Training at a Medical Devices Company where he leads a team designing and deploying learning strategies across the globe. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez PR, Yvan earned dual master’s degrees in chemical engineering and technology management from Villanova University. He brings extensive experience in strategy and leading change and a passion for continuous improvement and innovation in the workplace.

Having grown-up between Puerto Rico and Haiti, he is fluent in English, Spanish and French and brings diversity in his leadership style. Yvan resides in the Phoenixville area with his wife and four children and looks forward to serving the community in which he lives.

The new members were sworn in by fellow board member, RA Alumni, and Magisterial District Judge, Gregory Scott at the RA Board Meeting on January 16, 2020.

The Renaissance Academy would like to welcome these new Members to the RA Board of Trustees. Each bringing their expertise to the Board, these new members exemplify the spirit of community and demonstrate a true commitment to educational development. We are very fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to reach for new heights at the Renaissance Academy Charter School.
